Dr. Carlon attended college at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology. She attended Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (formerly known as Rutger's Medical School) in the Camden Program where she graduated with honors and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She attended a three-year residency in Internal Medicine (medicine for adults) at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago.
After residency, Dr. Carlon took a position as a staff physician for the HumanaMichael Reese Health Plan at Michael Reese Hospital. She worked there both seeing patients and teaching residents for a year and a half, before moving to New York State to be closer to her fiancé (now husband). There she worked doing Internal Medicine, Urgent and Occupational medicine as an employee of a practice in Middletown, NY. She also worked at another urgent care facility while there. When her fiancé finished his fellowship in New York, they moved to Chicago in 1995.
Dr. Carlon worked for West Suburban Hospital as an employed physician from July of 1995 until September of 2002. At that time, she and Dr. Beamer bought their practices from West Suburban Hospital and went into private practice together. Dr. Craigen joined them in 2004.
Dr. Carlon is a board certified physician in Internal Medicine. She is certified inAdvanced Cardiac Life Support and is a member of the American College of Physicians – American Society of Internal Medicine as well as the American Medical Association. She was a member of the Illinois State Medical Society where she volunteered on the public relations committee in 1997-1998 on a subcommittee on teen HIV education.
Dr. Carlon is busy teaching residents and students at West Suburban Hospital. She has admitting privileges at RUSH Oak Park Hospital and West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park
She is married with two children (and 2 cats!!!) Her creative outlet is quilting. Don't get her started talking about that!
Dr. Carlon likes to take time with her patients and finds that her favorite part of being a physician is getting to know her patients well. She likes the diversity of patients and ailments in an Internal Medicine practice. She is constantly keeping up-to-date by taking courses and by teaching. She took and passed her recertification examination for the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2001.
