Update for November 2011.
We are in full flu vaccine giving mode in the office.We have plenty of stock to go around so call for your appointment now. Flu activity is just starting to pick up in the region. For the weekly report of influenza activity in Illinois see here.
New Information for 2011-2012 Season
The vaccine this year is essentially the same as last year. They are using the same strains and H1N1 is again included. If you got a flu shot last year, it is still recommended that you get another shot this year because immunity can wane with time.
The ACIP (the Advisory Council on Immunization Practices), the body that publishes the guidelines for all vaccines has recommended that ALL persons 6 months and older now be vaccinated yearly against influenza virus. You can read the report here.
