Dr. Beamer grew up in the Detroit area. She attended Wayne State University and graduated in 1987, magna cum laude, with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biological Sciences. She attended Wayne State University School of Medicine and graduated in 1992. She attended a four-year combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit.
After residency, Dr. Beamer moved to the Chicago area and took an employed physician position at West Suburban Hospital in 1996. She worked for West Suburban from 1996 until September of 2002, at which time she and Dr. Carlon bought their practices from West Suburban Hospital and went into private practice together. Dr. Rhea Craigen joined them in 2004.
Dr. Beamer is Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She recently recertified in Pediatrics for the period of 2003-2010 and is enrolled in the continuous professional development program for Internal Medicine, which requires ongoing learning and testing in Internal Medicine in order to maintain Board certification.
Dr. Beamer is a member of the ACP-ASIM and a fellow of AAP and an AAP-Med-Peds Section member. She teaches students from Loyola Stritch University Medical School and residents at West Suburban Hospital. She has admitting priveleges at Oak Park Hospital and West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park.
She is married with one child and numerous animals at home. She enjoys cross-stitch embroidery, yoga, and baking cookies
